Linkup of the Week: BTS & Anderson .Paak’s Bowl Cut

Anderson .Paak and BTS is the linkup we didn’t know we needed until today. Anderson took the dusty Nevada desert stage with the Korean k-pop band and brought his funkadelic style with him (yes, bowl-cut wig included).

On June 13, BTS members, including RM, Jin, SUGA, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, hosted their “Proof Live” event in honor of the band’s latest album, Proof, and their ninth anniversary.

Though the livestream aired bright and early at 8 a.m. EST, I doubt the stateside BTS Army stans were complaining about seeing their faves performing first thing in the morning.

I mean, why not start the day off with a balanced serving of BTS?

The anniversary and album called for celebration, so BTS packed its performance with a surprise visit from Grammy-winning musician Anderson .Paak, who is fresh off a Vans collab and Met Gala tour de force.

Alongside the boy band, Anderson took the lead on the drums as they performed BTS’ “Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment),” dressed in a “Right on!”-worthy outfit.

Continuing to ride his 70s wave, Anderson wore a cream-colored suit with tonal Vans sneakers and cat-eye sunglasses, topped off with his now-customary bowl-cut hairdo.

Since forming chart-topping funky R&B group Silk Sonic with Bruno Mars, Anderson has been dressing like the dudes who graced primetime funk and soul album covers.

Though his sound and style has always borrowed from the 70s, the funkadelic spirit has thoroughly infiltrated Anderson’s entire wardrobe as of late, evident with his Met Gala flower-power and 2022 Grammys smooth velvet looks.

Vibrant flared suits, ruffled blouses, oversized sunnies, and of course, the decade’s far-out hair is standard stuff for the “Leave the Door Open” artist nowadays, often courtesy of Gucci, the modern-day ruler of retro.

Anderson definitely understands the assignment, often pumping the old school flair up to 11 when he assumes his .WEE MAN alias, spinning vinyl in groovy threads.

When it comes to Anderson .Paak’s style, I can dig it honestly. Not only does he embrace the era’s spirit with care-free flair, but he also nails the looks up to the hair.

Speaking of, by the looks of his new Rick James-esque wavy hairstyle, there’s a new ‘do in town.
